I founded Misadventures Media in 1995 to publish my own books, and now I’ve expanded the imprint to publish books by friends in the adventure travel community.
Back in 1995, I was a technical writer and publishing consultant as well as an adventure motorcyclist and journalist. I started teaching authors about websites and social media in about 2005, helping them format and distribute books and guiding them to the most trusted and reliable distribution tools and services.
In 2010, I co-founded Self-Pub Boot Camp, an educational program of books and workshops to educate authors on how to do everything themselves. Along the way, I discovered that most authors don’t want to do everything themselves, and created Author Friendly to do it for them. If you want to learn how to self-publish, go to Self-Pub Boot Camp. If you need help self-publishing, Author Friendly is the place you want to go.
Wth Misadventures Media I look forward to publishing adventure travel books by talented adventurers who have compelling stories to tell. If you have a book that fits that description, or a story that may fit into an anthology, please contact me.
I live in Baja, California, and San Diego, and frequently present at west-coast writers conferences, travel conferences, and overland events. You can find out more about me and my books on my personal blog.
